Taxes, Lakewood Schools and the BOE

Since over 56% of our Property Taxes go to the Lakewood School System, I think its about time we all pay more attention to what is going on with the Board of Education. Does the current School Board represent all the citizens of Lakewood? How transparent are the decisions that have been made? How do they plan to correct any perceived lack of transparency in the future?

If another levy is to be considered to complete the construction of the remaining schools, I think we need to take a hard look at the past decisions that have been made concerning that process. Were these decisions made in a transparent way? Are these decisions correct? Should the School Board revisit these decisions? And how quickly do they need to revisit these decisions so the process is not impeded?

We all need to become more involved in this process.

It's our money they are spending.

On this I will agree with you. Others have their ear and they aren't and won't hear us. I think it's disgusting and that they are smug and without redemption in my eyes.

The only one of them that I have a lick of respect for is Matt Markling. The rest are throwaways in my eyes.
