Why so Serious?

I found this article hilarious. The article's focus was asking if a cartoon that makes fun of EVERYONE has gone to far, and just matter of factly mentions that a muslim group thinks they should die.
If a radical Christian group had written something similar against the show for making fun of Jesus the title would read "Radical Christian group threatens life of Cartoon writers"
http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/TV/04/2 ... index.htmlSeems like some muslim people need thicker skin. Then again, they are just following the actions of their "peaceful" leader.

And no killing by Christians? No stirring up of hate of violence? No hypocritical statements like "Hate the sin and not the sinner"?
Please, more people have been killed in the name of Jesus than in the name of Allah.
Did you know that, in conjunction with the Tea Party movement there has been tremendous growth in Nazi/Militia type organizations?
You guys all hanging out at that skinhead bar at Madison and W. 117th?

Let me try to understand your logic...
Because Christians killed people before the mulsims can now? WOW, where do they sell the glasses you are wearing.
My point, which I am sure normal people can see, is that the media is afraid of this violent movement by the muslims. You really think the title of this article was correct? Should the muslim group continue to threaten people that poke fun of their religion?
You make this board so entertaining.

not to split hairs, but more people have been killed in the name of progressive socialism than for ALL the different religious practices combined. And the way it always starts is that a political party finds a scape goat and convinces people that THEY are to blame for the problems in society.
Holodomor + Holocaust + Mao's Cultural Revolution = more than 50 million people killed
I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

Um Holocaust was Nazi - MAO was a communist.
Did you know that Hitler studied to be a Jesuit?
My glasses are christian educated ones Ryan? No one should threaten to kill or kill. No one should stir up hate either. Get it?

Muslim people in general don't have any particular leader in common.
if you sift through enough muslims, you will find some who spout off against hokey cartoon writers.
We don't hold Jesus Christ or the Pope or Andy Griffith accountable for those "Christian" yayhoos who gather near soldiers funerals to chant that god hates america.
Rick Steves has done some nice travel shows covering Iran.
He explains that "Death to so-in-so" is a phrase used there like we use "Damn those so-and-so". Damn this traffic. Damn those teenagers. Damn this weather. Damn the neighbors barking dogs. Damn that used car salesman. Death to traffic. Death to those teenagers. death to this weather. Death to those neighors barking dogs. Death to that car salesman.
It is just a matter of vernacular. If you wanna pick it apart literally, Damnation is much more permanent than death. unless you do not believe in souls.

wow trouble in libya and egypt! didnt president kick ass get behind both of those countries' arab springs? even lending military support in libya?
yeah that worked out well.
blowing off bibi for letterman...im sure that's gonna work out great as well.
i saw the pics of the lunatics scaling the embassy walls and was immediately taken back to when i was ten years old, back when i was still dumb enough to vote for jimmy carter in my sixth grade mock election. 1979.
bottom line is that intolerance kills. and as long as we tolerate the intolerable we are complicit.

Being irreligious, I don't have a dog in this fight.
But from what I have read, a man created an offensive tape (offensive in both a religious and cultural manner), said he had done it with millions of dollars donated by American Jews, and posted it on farce-book. The film is clearly not done for entertainment or educational purposes; its only objective appears to be to stir up anti-American feelings among the Moslem people. Many Moslems let their religion control every aspect of their lives, and act when they are told to act; so do many Baptists.
Since our constitution protects freedom of speech, it appears the government can do nothing to prevent this, even though it is having a major effect on government relations.
But while the government is powerless, we the people can certainly make a judgment about the film, and if we find it offensive, take personal action to deal with the people who produced and disseminated it. If that means we go to your Jewish friends and ask about their involvement (and I am certain few are involved), and what we and they can do to prevent such offensive acts, we can bring pressure to remedy the situation; if we find that financing came from a certain company, for example, we can decline to do business with that company.
Strangely, almost contemporaneously, the prime minister of Israel demanded that we draw lines that Iran is not to cross, and attack them if the lines are crossed. Apparently he views us as his running dogs and expects us to fight his wars.
Moslem resentment of the west (and of us a the perceived leader of the west) predates the creation of Israel, so I don't think it is accurate to say that our absolute fealty to the state of Israel is the sole cause of our problems in that part of the world, but I think it has become a contributing factor. As a friend, we should go in confidence to Israel and tell them that their constant belligerency must be checked, and they must find a way to make peace with their enemies, or risk losing our friendship.
