Who Would Give Tom Bullock The Money?

Who in the world would give Tom Bollock enough money to where he could put up numerous side street signs?

It seems weird to me that such a newcomer would have the kind of money where he wouldn't have to think really hard about strategic placement especially with his 3 color signs.

The man doesn't understand things like how to find out what people were given for their election funds. I know how to do that, why does he feel that the city needs to track and report that information, according to the article in the Observer. He supposedly requested that the Law Dept. put something together. Seems to me like all he wants to do is attempt to cast local politicians in an unfavorable light.

What is all this claptrap about cleaning up politics - this is ludicrous. He doesn't even know how to package proposals (refer to the chicken fiasco). Doesn't understand Robert's Rules - refer to every Dem club meeting I've been to, how about the decision to leave off Issue 15 on the endorsement cards mailed out by the club (I didn't get one and I pay dues).

I didn't get any of his literature either and I'm a registered Dem in good standing. Doesn't he want me to see the inflammatory statements I've heard he's made?

I'm trying to get my hands on some of his mailers, if any of you have them (my friends and family have burned them) please send me a message on here and I'll work out how to get it.

Thanks.

Sharon,

I know I've gotten phone calls from other candidates asking me for volunteering time on my personal cellphone- when I ask where they get my number- it's always from the Bullock campaign.
I'd love to help the guy out, he means good for this city, but that struck a nerve with me.

The signage could be a favor done by a friend or local company. You never know these days.

Guess we'll find out when he files.

Personally, I don't feel he's qualified for higher office.

I just saw his flier. What a bunch of fabrications.

He guided the city of debt? He did that? I don't remember him being the head of the finance committee.

Leading the reform for county government? No he's not the one doing that unless he changed his name and became about 1,000 people.

Protected retirees with better access to services - NO! He did not.

The worst part is the attempt to smear Nickie. That is a sign of a desperate child with nothing to offer, he's got nothing.

If I was Nickie I'd sue him. She won't, she's above all that, but I think he's a mess.

No it's not for Caldwell, it's time for Nickie Antonio a woman who knows what she's doing and is a unbelievably hard worker.

But this is basically about Bullock's lies.

So much of BOTH of their money comes from outside Lakewood, does it really matter. Two national coalitions fight it out, it will be up to the BOE to sort it out.

The point, Colleen, is the sarcasm implied in "Who would give him money and why?" What does he have to offer - nothing.

This is job at the state level Colleen, not just Lakewood, but Lakewood would benefit from someone who is knowledgeable about the state and the district they represent. Someone who has worked for years (many unpaid) to better the lives of many.
Of course money is going to come from outside of Lakewood, the district encompasses much of Cleveland.

I know I'll find out from the reports that have to be filed, but it truly is a shame that some of it is wasted going down the drain of a candidate like him.

You can search campaign finance records at the Secretary of States's office online:

Thanks Bryan.

I found out something amazing. Tom Bullock lists his occupation as self-employed PR Consultant.

I think if my doctors ever release me to go back to work I'm going to do that also. It must be super-lucrative because he has given his campaign $11,000.00 in the time period for 1/1/09 to 4/1/10.

And here I though he was the movie host at Bela Duby. Ya learn something new every day.

I'm not so sure it's the money that I'd be concerned with. The nature of politics today means you need to be aggressive in your fundraising efforts. Tom has every right, as does Nickie or any other candidate to raise what they need from where they can get it - as long as it is done legally and ethically.

Ultimately, it is the voters who matter and you can only get them from the community you serve.

Which leads me to wonder - Who would give Tom Bullock their vote?

Tom has certainly shown himself to be ambitious, which itself isn't a bad thing. It seems though that Tom will stop at nothing to win. This will come back to haunt him someday - and it will come back to haunt us as residents of his district as well.

His recent piece is terribly deceitful. He lies about articles that either don't exist or that don't reflect the information he says they do. Nickie Antonio isn't even mentioned in an article where she is supposedly swearing her allegiance to 'party bosses'. He claims to be a reformer, yet he uses the very same tactics that he rails against. He takes full credit for things that he either didn't do, or at a minimum, were group efforts. Guided the city out of debt? Created 200 manufacturing jobs? Balanced the budget for the first time in 22 years? Attracted millions in private investment? Tom seems to live in an alternate universe where he is the savior and there are no other players. Tom moved here just a few years ago and now thinks he is the answer to all of our problems. He's even told many folks that he would remain on council for more than one term, yet he has been running for the State House from his first year in office. Will he begin his campaign for the next opportunity as soon as he is sworn in in Columbus?

Tom is an opportunist. The only person he puts first is himself. This is not who we need in Columbus to represent us in the 13th district.

Nickie Antonio has run an above-board, honest campaign. She has a terrific record of service to Lakewood and beyond. She is a smart, hard worker who will represent all of us in Columbus and she will fight for what is right. Nickie has run a campaign on issues and ideas - not attacks and insults. Disagree with her on how to get the job done, but don't lie about who she is and what she stands for.

I hope voters get the big picture. Nickie Antonio will be a strong representative for our community as a whole. Tom Bullock will be a strong representative for his own ambition. We can't afford a person like Tom Bullock in Columbus. Please, vote for Nickie Antonio on May 4.

Thanks.

OK, I thought of one more thing - Where does Mayor Fitzgerald stand on this race? How about Tom and Nickie's fellow council colleagues? Anyone care to let us know where they stand?

Thanks!!
