Missing Threads..where are they? Why are they gone?

Has anyone else noticed missing topic threads?

Edited old threads?

Empty threads?

There are many I can not find.
Where are these missing threads and why have the posts in some other threads been edited and have weird symbols instead of words? ie, “" Toledo’and….. “The I’ can’t

Why would LO delete ANY threads and edit the content of some older threads?

Anyone else notice this problem? Or have any idea why this kind of action would be engaged in?

Any ideas?

Shelley

We have never edited a thread. I have deleted three by mistake, and written over one.

DL Meckes one of our webmasters head of 4 Design deleted all threads prior to last
February, over a year ago by accident, she was trying to fix a couple things. We saved all
of them. I have asked for them to be restored, and she has been working on this.

Sorry it is taking so long, but all threads have been saved, and can be viewed at
http://lakewoodobserver.com/deck

If you have any threads that you want moved over, she will do it, and has been very
responsive to any and all requests.

AGAIN, we have never edited, or thrown out any threads, everything is intact.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Jim,

Thanks for the info on where to find missing posts.

If they werent edited, then how do they now have the weird symbols and words in the posts?

“" Toledo’and….. “The I’ can’t
I copied and pasted the above from an old topic thread. No idea how those would even be made. And they werent that way when origionally written.

Anyway, hope the old posts are restored soon

Shelley

DL told me she was working on it.

Believe me, we have saved all the posts, we have ZERO interest in editing comments.

While it has been over a year, she told me the other day she thinks she has it figured out.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience.

Web languages can do weird things to posts when you convert from one language to another. UTF-8 (8-bit UCS/Unicode Transformation Format) is a variable-length character encoding for Unicode. It is able to represent any character in the Unicode standard, yet is supposed to be backwards compatible with ASCII.

This is not always so, and sometimes characters are rendered in a bad way. Punctuation marks are the things that come out the worst.

Also, sometimes people work out their answers in a microsoft word document. Pasting that to the old Deck would cause formatting issues as well.

There are empty thread folders

There are odd symbols in the text

Jim said there are missing topic threads- they are on another site-

Hardly a "conspiracy theory" Just a lack of information...see where that gets folks? Weird how lack of INFORMATION leads to questions ..huh

Thanks Jim, for instantly sharing the info on where to find old and missing threads
