Matt,
Thanks for the information. Do you have a list of topics that are on the agenda for the January 25th meeting?
Thanks.

Betsy,
No. I do not know the agenda at this time. That will be handled by the respective presidents.

I'm sure this is all well intended, but is there anyone else out there who has a philosophical problem with government and school leaders officially meeting at the same time and place?
Historically, it is my understanding that the free public school system was supposed to be exactly that...free.
Free from direct outside official influence, that is.
Wherever that influence may originate.
I'm sure the meeting is well-intended, but whether it would be constitutional or not?
I'm not sure.

Gary,
No formal action takes place at these “meetings.”
It is simply an opportunity for school and city leaders to “discuss” items of mutual interest and concern in public.

Thanks for your reply and clarification, Matt, as always.
To me, however, this is walking on a very thin tightrope.
Back to the banjo...

For anyone who has not attended one of these meetings before they are very informative. I've known for several years about the charter school law from the state and where did I learn it? At a joint school board/city council meeting. This meeting is more of an informational meeting which makes it a pretty interesting meeting to attend.
