Why do we stop, capture, edit censor, delay The Commander In Chief speaking to students.

When we let the Armed Services, Pepsi, Coke, etc speak to them on the same TVs
and station every day while they are in class, watching TV1 or whatever that channel is?

Like I said this is not a D and R thing.

This is just common sense and critical thinking.

Just one thing on here. 15 years ago, I moved back to Lakewood with my two youngest, my other child was grown and on his own.

Specifically, I came back here because of the schools. The curriculum at two other suburban systems just didn't stimulate them enough. They're really smart kids.

They both graduated from Lakewood high on the deans list. Went to college, hit the president's list and now both have very successful careers and they just started that journey.

I want other kids to have that same kind of experience and this scenario isn't right.

It may be presented as not a D and R thing, yet everytime someone questions or disagrees with one of the President's "solutions" it shows up in the media as Republican opposition. I believe many thinking people, of many persuasions, are starting to question whether the President has the plans he said he had when he was running, or is just a very glib speaker who is creating a cult of personality where no one will be able to disagree with him without being labeled hysterical. The so called town meetings are more and more being revealed as propaganda exercises, where the audience is carefully stacked with supporters who will ask supportive questions and present supportive facts; when some people get in and ask embarrassing questions, or act in a non-supportive manner (which I don't defend, but note that it was a common technique used against the other party, and we tolerated it) they are demonized as disruptive and hysterical. Some of us ask whether a President who demands that a health care plan be passed immediately (by the end of August, as I recall) because it is an emergency is not himself being hysterical. Practicing the chicken little style of management, perhaps.

According to the media today, the President did not really have a plan to improve health services, but rather was counting on the Congress to have such a plan, and since they have stumbled, the White House is now going to draw up and present a plan. Some of us wish the President would spend more time crafting solutions, and less time burnishing his image on TV.

Those who know their history know that creating a cult of personality is not a new technique, and does not always insure a benign government. So we see the President on the TV virtually constantly, and now we see him wanting to take students away from their studies while he "inspires" them, and we think he is going too far toward institutionalizing his cult of personality and should get on with the business of running the government.

Some of us don't want to see a cult of personality so developed that it obscures what the government has actually done.

just because he actually HAS a personality doesn't deem it "cult like" and shouldn't be confused with inspiring. Unless you have true fear of this individual in which inspiring would take on a negative connotation.

I'm sure when Reagan spoke to schools Lakewood screened it first, right? No?

I find it mildly revolting the only time the President gets screened is now. Makes me wonder if the Lakewood school admins are keeping an ear open to right wing nutjobs, instead of the people who vote monies for them right here in town.
