It was a really good time. Lots of people out and having fun. Good Times. Good Job!!

Outstanding event in every respect.

Dad and I took the event in with deep appreciation for all involved. Dad loved seeing the Army's climbing wall. (I suspect that wall was a bit safer than the WWII obstacle course that he had to traverse back then)

We also made a couple of great purchases from Chas Geiger.

This is just a great time to be "alive" in Lakewood...

Unfortunately, I was recovering from a back muscle problem, so the famous LO banjo had to remain in the car today.

That was OK though. It seemed as if the whole city was in sing-a-long mode anyway.

LakewoodAlive hosted the group that was set up to get Basketball Hoops back up around
the city. It was refreshing seeing LakewoodAlive fighting for this cause.
Bring back the hoops!

As I walked back to the car, it was nice walking past basketball hoops that have been
missing for too long in this city. It was also nice seeing LakewoodAlive fight to bring
them back. After all why should Clifton Beach be the only place with outdoor hoops!

There's no reason a city as great as Lakewood shouldn't have basketball hoops...

PLEASE tell me that photo of Paula Reed is photoshopped. She did NOT wear a shirt emblazoned with "Street Walker!"

It just amazes me that people who plan and organize these events have no sense of the vernacular. We had friends in from Seattle and the "Cornhole" banners kept them laughing for days. Wait until they hear about the "streetwalking" event, LOL.

Only a second here.

That was not photoshopped in, and I would not take anything away from the event
Paula worked so hard on. Though more than one person has asked me about where
LakewoodAlive gets their inspiration from! I figure it is a deep frustration.

Paula did a yoeman's job bringing this together after LakewoodAlive turned their back
on Lois Moss and Walk & Roll, basically walking away from an agreement they had made
to build the event together. This would seem to be another standard deal. Like
"DowntowN" now instead of "Mainstreet"

Paula worked very hard, and was walking the entire time she was there, which is part
of the Lakewood Well campaign she has worked so hard on.

Come on. I find it rather hilarious... the tee shirt, that is. I am sure that the vernacular is not escaping anyone here. It's funny. We need to lighten up a little.

As far as cornhole, it is truly a midwest thing.... there was a movement a couple of years back to change the official name of corn hole to 'Baggo.' But it didnt take off. I think 'corn hole' is also hilarious.

I will never forget the day the person that came up with the idea for a cornhole tournament
came to the Observer. I was talking with her and said, "You know if we do this in the spring,
when all the daisies are out, maybe we could also get into the Guiness Book fo Records
for the longest daisy chain." She thought it would be a marvelous idea!

I still chuckle.

Glad to see you want to lighten up, I guess this means on me as well.

Truly, I do think it is hysterical.

I just don't think it was INTENDED as such.

I've been wondering if they realized the connotation since I saw the shirts. I personally bought one FOR it, and I have a feeling that is why the 'Walker' shirt was more popular than the others (roller, talker, etc.)...

Yeah, a shirt that says "street walker" in attempt to be serious and promote an event is just plain tacky. Doesn't give the most positive image of Lakewood.

If I wore t-shirts I might've gotten one as a joke, but I would be embarrassed to wear it.

To be fair we were walking the streets.
