Our governor has issued an executive order granting Ohio's 7 race tracks permission to allow slot machines.
the psychological kick of a slot machine is a greater inducement to gamble than most of our present institutionalized gambling, for most people. I spend about five dollars a week on lottery tickets. if the convenience stores selling lottery tickets had tables attended by attractive waitresses serving alcoholic beverages I might spend twenty dollars a week on scratcher lotto tickets. if there was nice background music, and the lighting wasn't too bright.
I don't know. maybe a nickel tax on coffee or beverages served in disposable cups would be great for raising funds. maybe even a nickel tax on each distinct container of soda pop and energy drinks.
