As an aquarist I love the idea of having an aquarium in Cleveland, however I think they are making a big mistake putting it where they are. They are going to miss out on a lot of people who would go to the aquarium if they would put it where they originally planed. A lot of people visiting Cleveland who might go to the Science Center and the Rock Hall would likely go to the Aquarium as well if it was down there with it, but if they have to go somewhere else they might just end up calling it a day. I’m excited, but hesitant. Not to mention this aquarium, if I have heard correctly, is going to be about half the size of the one originally planed.

The majority of the pessimism I've heard surrounding this aquarium does have to to with its size... that it's too small to be successful (planned at 55,000 sq. ft., it's about 1/8 the size of Shedd Aquarium in Chicago). But it sounds like they really have some neat things planned, and have an eye on future expansion opportunities. I've been to the aquarium in Sydney that was designed by the same company, and it was spectacular... the SeaTubes (glass tunnels through the aquarium, so the sea life is above and all around you) are really something to see.
