I think the LEAF/MAMA workshops/seminars are a great idea, but was curious if any of the future workshops are going to be in bars. Alot more people than we think have certain reservations or lifestyles that do not include an atmosphere of bars and alcohol. I, myself, am proud not to be a consumer of adult beverages anymore but will not be attending the Trashcan to Rainbarrel workshop for this reason. Community is everyone, everyone included and considered. Thanks, yall!!

Sullivan's, to me, is more of a restaurant than a bar, at least in the typical way that I think about bars. There are a lot of families among frequent customers and, excepting maybe the Saturday night music crowd, it's never a bar atmosphere.

Most bars are not quiet or spacious enough for us to have any sort of speaker/workshop unless they have some sort of party room, so, I guess to answer your question, most of these will probably not take place in bars.

I do get your point and since I have been in sobriety for a long time, I have no problem going to some bars like Sullivan's and Mahalls.

There must be sensitivity shown for those in recovery who do have issues with even places like these. Many are uncomfortable in any situation where alcohol is served. Additionally, in a place like that you might wind up being seated next to someone who is drinking and the smell of the drink can be the most enticing aroma on earth.

For many, the issue can be as serious as the difference between life and death. For some, just uncomfortable and we all should respect that.

Please do give us suggestions of where you'd like us to hold them!
