So what was the lesson here? You must use oil if you want to sail? I am sure plenty of gas powered boats fail at sailing all the time.

I think the lesson is to be better prepared. Check the weather report, make sure everything is bolted to the deck, etc.

I would expect a fossil fuel powered vessel rather than a sailboat to pick them up, especially in 40+ mph winds.

It is ironic that an oil tanker picked them up. Maybe the cargo ship carrying smart cars or some other green payload sailed the week before? :lol:

I just find it amusing that global warming fanatics set out to prove the Earth is overheating by walking to the North Pole and freezing to death, getting stranded in blizzards or freezing while on a stroll in the Antarctic when anyone with any sense is staying indoors and that they have their various public mass panic attacks on cold days in the depths of winter instead of having sense to have their demonstrations on a hot day in August instead of a cold day in January.

By the way, the Earth is actually getting colder.
