This is a new day and you can see it the faces and in the polls everywhere. Barack Obama has the opportunity to lead all of us to a new America, and inclusive America, a once again great America.
However, yesterday I was addressing a group of African-American women, civic leaders from the eastside. As I spoke with them, you could see the pride in America, in their eyes, and their hope for their future. Then I said, "Well, at noon today we can finally put this race issue and inequality issue to rest." You could cut the tension with a knife, then I laughed and we all laughed, very hard. It was an interesting moment there, and an interesting moment in America. For people like you and I, we can see how far we have come, but we can also see how far we have yet to go.
Today we party, I hope all of us. For President Obama, has truly reached across all aisles, and is being an American first, a leader second, a father and husband third, and a democrat last. Which seems his life and attitude are properly in line for the mess he must now clean up.
Which leads us to one last mess to clean up:

I know that racism most certainly hasn't gone away. It's horrible and pervasive.
This is a first step though and it's huge, HUGE!
One day all people, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, religious preference and ablism will all be seen as equal, because we are.
Blessings all and thins beatiful day.
