Obama is the most amazing Pre-President ever. The world is nearly falling apart in preparation for his presidency. I think pre-blame is the new defensive rebuttal. Bill Call has made a small career out of the pre-blame game lately and I take it this will be the playbook the neocons will be rolling out for the next 4 years. Like with Clinton, they couldn't leave well enough alone and were always looking for ways to undermine by calling out alleged problems from his pre-Presidency. Now the new game is to, while IN the pre-Presidence set up pre-blame or an administration that has yet to take power.

Gads, my mind can't keep up with it.

Oh, but to the market question. Since the majority of Americans right now feel positive about Obama and have hope that...for whatever reason... his run in the White House will be preferable to another 4 by a Bush-like Republican then I would only find any truth to your ideas if we are then assuming the majority of people in the financial markets are Republicans since only they, like Bil Call, are afraid, very afraid.

Which means, then, that their pre-blame whiney actions that are tanking in the market are entirely in their hands which means, therefore, that the entire problem with the markets today can be be left completely in the lap of the Republicans.

Done and done. I have a chart here somewhere...

Oh, and I think this Warren Buffet quote says a lot about the markets today. Sort of. But I think it is funny.

[quote]“We believe that according the name "investors" to institutions that trade actively is like calling someone who repeatedly engages in one-night stands a "romanticâ€

Markets won't like Obama-Reid-Pelosi picture

Obama, OK. Obama-Pelosi-Reid? A nightmare for markets. McCain-Pelosi-Reid? OK. McCain and Republican majorities in both House and Senate? Another nightmare.
  let the nightmare begin

In the end we are all screwed for some time.

How will the markets react to the passage of a "financial rescue package"... oh wait...

The Dow was in a slight downturn the last time a Democrat went into the Whitehouse and bottomed in Nov/Dec 92. Probably on the premise that Democrats have a habit of raising taxes or people just get plain nervous of the unknown. After Clinton settled into his presidency, the Dow increased slowly until Al Gore invented the internet, then it really took off.

By the way, the weather has definitely turned cooler over the last few days. Is Mother Nature also getting ready for an Obama regime? Or is this another of Bush’s failed policies? :)

Neither. The colder change in the temps is proof positive that there is no global warming  and even if there were, man's activities had no effect :?

The final three innings of the rained-out World Series Game 5 (between teams from swing states PA and FL) will be played tomorrow night - right after Obama's half-hour prime-time campaign ad.

Is God a Democrat? ;)

PJ O'Rourke posisted that God was a Republican and Santa Claus was a Democrat. So no. :D
