The Democratic Party's political campaign has become one gigantic hate fest.

The Nazi's campaigned against the Jews, the communists campaigned against the middleclass, the old Democratic Party campaigned against the Negro and the new Democratic party campaigns against anyone with a different opinion.

A Democratic Party consumed by hate and controlled by a man who thinks of himself as the Messiah is a very dangerous political machine.

Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.

I disagree, Bill. Ain't no hate emanating from my house. I find this amazing because I feel that, for the better part of the last decade, I've gotten-up each day steeling myself for the tidal, mind-numbing assault on my rights as an American citizen and my intellect as an well-educated, rational adult. Insofar as Mr. Obama having messianic visions of himself, consider the status quo. Now, do you think you can do a better job?!

I will always fear a campaign based on demagoguery and triviality. As it has come to pass, I find that I am not afraid of it; I'm disgusted by it, because of what it has come to represent at this point in time in our nation's history. After this week, Social Security reform is dead. National Health Care reform is dead. Those who scream for govt. deregulation and decry govt. oversight arrive hat-in-hand for salvation at the feet of hokey Uncle Sam. The amount of political capital required to free us of this mess to address other long-term issues would crush anyone short of FDR and a stacked Supreme Court. If I hear one word from a conservative about the need for "a free-market, unfettered by govt. restraint and regulatory controls," I'll stroke-out.

Do you know what I hate? I hate being ridiculed for being a member of a political party that is attacked for being TOO intellectual. It is becoming embarrassing to be an American. What should my children aspire to? Mind-numbing, goose-stepping automatons to the latest Patriot Act/Wall St. bailout/unprovoked war? Or independent-thinking, free-voting individuals who think change for the sake of change shouldn't be construed as "new", "novel", or subversively dangerous to the Motherland?

No, I don't hate. But I understand if others do.

Yeah, the Democrats are always talking about tolerance. Why aren't they more tolerant of the Republicans' intolerance? Why must they hate the fact that the Republicans hate so much?

Why can't the Democrats see that by persecuting Republicans for refusing civil rights and engaging in xenophobia, it's really the Republicans who are the victims here?

I read a lot of blogs and pundits on both sides of the aisle, and the only ones calling Obama a Messiah are the ones on the right. Obama's not a humble man by any means, but I've not yet heard him say that he's on a mission from God.

There's a huge difference between outrage and hate. Here's the difference between a Democrat and a Republican - a Democrat generally would never try to constrain your rights based on how you think, who you love, or how you worship.

Brian---- I would embellish that by adding that the Bush regime has simply attempted for total control over the individual by the godstate from conception, to how one leads a mortal life, and even up to the final wishes of one's departure.

I would so much like to be the society that WFIII espouses, meritocracy, rationality, and exuberant happiness in another's achievements and happiness.

It's Sarah Palin's job to pick which of America's missions are missions from God.

Like the time (last week in a interview) she said that the war we're in now is a mission from God.

Who is associated with spitting on soldiers returning home from war, violent protest and storing bags of urine and feces to throw at people who disagree with them?? the loving tolerant left... Any one who disagrees with the left in this country automatically labled intolerant... so much for open debate...

Wow, really? Someone drank the scary Kool Aid today, yes? You are pretty much the only person I know that still says this yet just about everyone either knows someone in the military right now or knows someone who has a relative or friend. I know a ton that way and have yet to hear of any poo bags and spit showers.

To be fair, even if this does occur it would be just as valid to say all Republicans shoot abortion doctors and beat up homosexuals. One can easily look to the far fringes of any party to find the most reprehensible actions and try to make it out as the popular activity. It is cheap but obviously effective (or perceived as effective since Stephen brings it up a lot).

That about says it all. The Republican party, winner of the last two presidential elections still wants to come off as the poor, misunderstood underdogs and silent majority. You can't be the party in power and play the victim card at the same time. Scratch that, you can (and have) but it sure comes off a bit less genuine.

Democrats who campaigned against the Negro became Republicans about 50 years ago.

no one here has ever spit on a veteran or thrown bags of "urine and feces" on a veteran.

I'm not sure what the Democratic Party is campaigning against this time around. Mostly the Other Mainstream Party. The Other Mainstream Party has more than Opinions. It has Policy and Actions. presumably these are different policies and actions than the democrat party wants to make.

The Republicans impeached Clinton for lying about diddling Monica Lewinsky. I don't know why he was asked about diddling Monica Lewinsky when the legal proceedings had something to do with something called "whitewater". It was one of the rampant wastes of time and money and attention spans that made me stop voting Republican. The Democrats will probably be gracious enough to not impeach Vice President Palin over maneuvering to have her ex-brother in law dismissed from whatever government job he had.
