Worthwhile events or just overproduced infomercials?
Perhaps Both.
I personally believe that this whole election thing has been dragged out for far to long.

Its free media exposure for them, but I'm not sure it will convince many voters, since we realize that whatever they say will not be challenged. At least we can choose not to watch, so its better than their incessant telephone calls (I've been known to change my intentions if one of the interchangeable candidates calls me too often).
Actually, if I had the time to waste I might watch the Democratic convention, but only because I'm convinced that Clinton is congenitally dishonest, and will attempt to use all the mollifying access given to her to steal the bacon. Perhaps something along the line that with the polls now showing a virtual tie between Obama and McCain, its obvious that the Obama campaign is failing and only she can step in and save the race.

Did they really need the whole tribute to Ted Kennedy last night?
What a load of crap. Of all the people that recorded segments for the tribute, I didn't see any clips from the Kopechne family. Although it was really cool seeing him sail around the coast he personally saw fit to keep free of wind turbines.
Instead of kissing Teddy's butt, how about some love for Stephanie Tubbs-Jones?

I am watching and I loved it all. I'll watch the Republican convention too and I will love it too.
Maybe it is because this is what I always did with my mother every 4 years and I worked so hard to try to memorize all my favorite speeches. This year, my children are in Dallas, but they have gotten together to watch the convention every night together.
I even love the roll call votes.
It does help to lay out what is important to each party. Plus it helps us to remember and honor our history. I personally loved the tribute to Teddy. I cried. He will go down in American History as one of our most influential senators. He is an icon in the Democratic party. He is a great orator and this may have been his last speech. Just to see the courage of this man to me was inspiring.

After watching about 1 minute of the convention tonight I thought:
"No wonder we're in so much trouble!"
It was like bobble head night at the stadium.
