AP Story

Sad day. I really enjoyed Meet the Press and also covering the Presidential Debates in Cleveland, which he co-hosted.

Tim when he was in Cleveland.

Good newsman, good writer, good John Carroll graduate.

Great interviewer.

You will be missed.

A sad day for us former Buffaloians!

A sad day for John Carroll, hardly said no to that University!

I have a copy of one his white boards from the 2000 election, that I bought at JCU auction several years ago.

Two things:

Few people project the joy Russert did for politics, for interviewing and for his job.

Second, I wish NBC had a portable A.E.D. machine (a defibrillator) on premises. It may have saved his life. Might not have, but we'll never really know.

The City has a number of these machines in public places and they save lives. Even if you don't know a thing about them, the A.E.D. machines will tell you exactly what to do. So, have somebody do chest compressions while somebody else goes looking for the A.E.D.

Classes are offered to teach citizens how to use these things: if you can, take one.

Wow, I was thinking the same thing after I had heard what happened. So sad. He will be missed.

It's worth watching the Today show clip from Monday when Matt Lauer interviewed Russert's son, Luke. What a well-spoken young man... had some great things to say about his dad.
