Libertarian Billionaires and intellectuals fantasize about building Libertarian Islands in unclaimed ocean space.
It seems a bit more expensive than property taxes. And nobody became a billionaire selling stuff to markets the size of a small artificial island.
It is pretty consistent that when people "join" a homeowners association in a new subdivision, they get jerked around by the the Homeowners Association. A multi-billion dollar libertarian colony in the middle of the ocean would be like the Homeowners Association from hell.
There are advantages to living in a Liberterian Homeowners Association Island. There are no laws against drugs, open containers of alcohol, indentured servitude, gambling, polygamy, etc. You can sort of get away with polygamy in America, so long as you aren't legally married. but then big government ruins it by making you pay child support.
