Truck Drivers have begun protesting over rising Diesel Prices.

Is there something preventing them from raising their rates to cover the added cost of diesel?

Our gasoline bill at work is up 100%. Sometimes we add a fuel surcharge.

I would be more impressed with the protests if instead of asking the mysterious 'someone" to lower fuel prices they were asking asking the government to allow oil drilling and gasoline and diesel refining.

I don't think the independent trucking industry will survive the inevitable decline in oil production.

They should automatically raise shipping rates to reflect fuel cost increases. If there are impediments to them doing this, the impediments must be destroyed! I would expect independent truckers to have fewer long term contracts and more discretion to adjust to this.

If collusion of customers is forcing them to keep rates down, the collusion must be destroyed. If the truckers are competing themselves out of business, it is their own fault.
