Cancellation of the Debate

I would invite both Ryan and Mayor George to post their answers to the questions voluntarily.
Even if all the candidates didn't participate, it would still be nice for the citizens to see where you both stand on the questions presented. It would be truly a tragedy if we didn't get anything at all out of this debate.

After some technical glitches, I've submitted my answers to all the questions. My answers were originally in wordperfect, a and my email wasn't allowing me to send them as an attachment. I converted it to microsoftword, and it let me attach them and send them on a few minutes ago.
I apologize for any delay.

Great news Ed. To be honest, you've been so willing to participate in debates, forums, and on the Deck, I was a little surprised when it was announced you hadn't responded here. I knew there had to be some kind of technical issue.
Hopefully the LO will go ahead and post the responses now that all have replied.

Jim,
The Observer violated the original debate agreement by asking us to answer many more questions than the original nine that were promised. I asked Jeff for a minor extension to finish my answers and he granted the extension. So was I late? I am not sure you can make that conclusion.
Second, is it so important that the questions be posted today that we would deprive Lakewood citizens of the answers?
You have the material, post it and let the debate go on.
This is a sham to cover Mayor George, more business as usual at the Observer.

UPDATE !
Mayor Tom George sent his answers to Jeff Endress at midnight last night to make sure they were in on time. Submitting early was an option available to all candidates.
Ryan Patrick Demro - Was 16 minutes late.
Ed FitzGerald ended up 44 minutes late, due to a problem sending the attachment file from his computer.
No one benefitted, from seeing anyone's answers.
Jeff Endress, moderator and lawyer of record for LO is at the Brown's Game. We will wait for his decision when he gets back.
And Jeff made his cancellation post at around 9:50 am this morning (give or a take an hour) because of posting time seems not to match real time. Did the answers from Demro and Fitzgerals come in right after midnight?

You would hope that the Observer would not let politics get in the way of this debate. just sayin

So, now that my clock here is correct here... The debate was canceled at 10:50 am. What time was the dead line? I heard 9 am. So according to Jim's post the answers from Ryan and Ed arrived at 9:16 am and 9:44 am. Is this correct?

Because the virtual debate has been canceled, does that mean that the other aspects are canceled as well or are they still occurring. Meet the Press? The one on one interviews with Ken? The responses in the paper.
All were good ideas, I hate to see them all canceled just because a few candidates were a little late with their responses.

Ryan
Do you really want me to answer this?
I had about 7 paragraphs written.
Let me post one, and maybe you can understand this.
Now in the end the man that had the most thankless task of the lot, moderator and lawyer Jeff Endress, a man that is honorable, and very legal, had decided the debate was over. I called and asked to keep it going, he said it is over. Jeff was the moderator, and I stand behind those that have stood behind me.
I appreciate the fact that all candidates, took the time to answer the questions. What upsets me, is the only person that actually cared enough about the debate to get the answers in 9 hours early is being vilified and called out, for not sending in or posting his answers.
That my friend borders on insane.
So as long as we have this in writing, you are accusing Jeff Endress, and the Observer of covering up for Mayor Tom George. That we acted together to further Tom's George's campaign, and that I Jim O'Bryan stopped the debate?
Please answer this is writing, here, at your earliest convenience.
I will be happy to then post the other 6 paragraphs I left out.
If you do not answer, I will take that as an apology to Jeff, the paper, and all Observers. I understand that some people find it hard to admit they are wrong publicly. You apologize to the others, and you and me are cool.
As for me, I wrote a check to you, do you remember what I told you that night? Your promise to me? Let me give you a hint, "No empty chairs with names on them again..."

While I understand your ire, I don't believe you should demand an apology on behalf of all Observers. That's vaguely grandiose.
With respect to everything else in your post, you yourself take a jab at the other opponents with the phrase "the only person that actually cared enough about the debate to get the answers in 9 hours early"
Do you really think that Mayor George is the only candidate who really cared, or is that simply a reactionary statement?
Trading these veiled and not so veiled barbs isn't getting anybody anywhere. By the way, I think the voters in Lakewood understand the political process and understand and recognize efforts to undermine candidates. I believe they are smart enough to tell truth from fiction.
