Too bad we can't impeach Kucinich. Even if you like him, he needs to spend more time doing what he he was elected and paid for instead of going on these big presidential ego trips. Funny how he is so anti-NAFTA but marries a woman from the United Kingdom.

Isn't the real reason Bush isn't impeached is because everyone knows Cheney is worse?
As for Kucinich's wife, I read an article by her, before I knew who wrote it, and was immensely impressed with her charitable and seemingly beautiful spirit. Who cares where she is from? She has done more good in the world than many.

Who is this "everyone"?
The real reason Bush hasn't been impeached is because the newly elected Democratic congress knows they have very little prosecutable position with which to even try.
This is really just about Kucinich knowing he doesn't have the special interest group monetary power to keep himself in the spotlight by any other means than to spew forth some lame political agenda on the news every couple of weeks.
If and when the other candidates begin to come forth with any real position statements, Kucinich will once again disappear into the background.

Oh sorry Bret, do I need to preface my posts with "in my opinion". Please, Kucinich disappearing wouldn't help this country near what Bush and Cheney disappearing could.

I did a column about addition through subtraction, but that one hadn't occurred to me. It would be like watching "It's a Wonderful Life" only to find out that everyone was better off if there had been no George Bailey....

Justine, there is a difference between posting your opinion and spewing wild speculation as fact.
Anyway. Do I care who you talk to from other countries? Not really. I talk to people from other countries as well. And yes, plenty of them hate President Bush. But digging a little deeper, I find that most of them also have no answer to the problem of radical Islam. They can sit back and pretend that doing nothing is fine, and that all of this is caused by the U.S. but that has little to do with the reality that we live in a dangerous time. A time where, I'm sorry to say, people don't "just get along" and let each other live in peace.
I know I have little chance of changing your mind. So I won't even bother. All I ask, is that if you're going to post, please do so without just simply repeating the same old tired and yet baseless allegations.
But since you're so keen on offering up your opinion. Lets have it. In you personal opinion, what do you think would happen if we pulled out all of our troops tomorrow? Next week? Next year, or any time prior to the completion of a strong, working, democratic government.
My guess, Iraq would fall into total chaos for the next 20 years until one faction or another manages to finally kill enough of the other so as to once again rule the country through fear and corruption. And once that happens, minorities will continue to be slaughtered and children will continue to be killed. The world community will once again condemn the actions, yet do nothing to stop it. The U.N. will pose sanctions that will be deemed as nothing more than U.S. political pressure. Billions of dollars in aid will flow in, yet Iraqi citizens will suffer as the ruling class stuff their pockets, all the while preaching that America is the great satan.
but that's just "my opinion". I got it by watching this same process unfold in years past and present, in a half dozen different countries around the world, and postulating that if nothing is done now, than nothing will change going forward.
I look forward to hearing your solution.

As always the question regarding this clown is : What has he done in 10+years for NE Ohio ? ( supposedly his job? or at least his part time Job? for the $1.5M salary paid him over the past decade )
Though he was elected to REPRESENT and present the views of NE Ohio yet per his web site schedule spends more time on either coast than locally

I am one.
Makes sense to start with the "brains," well head of this nightmare. I am not to worried about GWB. I figure World Court will take care of him in LeHage. I mean we know they are licking their lips at the War Crimes committed by this group in the name of, WMD, oil, DEMOCRACY, theft, RIGHT TO VOTE, natural gas, KEEPING THE KIDS SAFE, opium, EDUCATION, record profits, GOD, power/money.
Funny last guy that openly got marching orders was killed by the FBI in Waco Texas.
Bret, I for one care about what people think in other countries and we know you do to. US against the World is not a very good place to be. I am sure it is one that the power brokers would love. But I just do not see where we win in that one.

The majority of the posts on the Deck are people's opinions. I don't see all of them prefacing every opinion with "this is just my opinion". But now you are asking me to give a resolution to how, and when we should pull out the troops? Like I said in a different post, I don't see any win-win answer. It is the biggest mess this country has ever seen, and yes we are now responsible for what is going on in Iraq. There are millions of children and innocents being slaughtered around the world, but this mess in Iraq is on us.
And for what? What did we change? Who did we help? Other than the contractors making money re-building that country.
