morel mushrooms

do any of you hunt Morel Mushrooms? The season is Nigh.

Not sure, but with the recent snows, it may of set things back a bit. Morels are a wonderful mushroom. Their hollow caps invite stuffing, and their rich taste is a real treat.

I have found patches of morels but never had the nerve to trust that I'd found the real McCoy. The adage I've heard is for every edible mushroom, there is one that looks very similar, and if you guess wrong, you don't get a second chance.

Anyone out there trained in mushroom hunting?

We have a morel patch at our place in PA. They tricky... gotta catch quick because in our area they go fast (dang critters I think).

mmmmmm.....

Mike, however, is the hunter-gatherer... I am only the "chef" <laff>

So you'll have to check with him on how to tell them apart from the imposters.

Of course there's an imorel mushroom. Those are the ones that make you sick.
