Accounting

Okay, the forum has been a nice community of folks who are more than willing to help out with opinions and advice, so I wish to tap into this one more time ...

Does anyone have a recommendation of a good accountant/tax preparer in Lakewood? In the past I used to just go to H&R Block, because my taxes were relatively simple to deal with ... however, in 2006 I got married and bought in a house (both within weeks of each other ... which I don't recommend to anyone!), so I think it's going to be much more complex this year! And I'd like to keep my dollars within Lakewood, though worse comes to worse, Rocky River or another west shore community would suffice, though I'd prefer my money stay within our borders.

I've asked my realtor, who is also my neighbor, but I'm curious if anyone on the board has any recommendations of someone they trust and feel comfortable with.

Thanks,

Chris Dawson

I would also suggest Tim Laskey - not only does he have his office in Lakewood, but also lives in the city.
He has done my personal and business taxes for a few years and is fantastic to work with.

I have referred many people to Tim Laskey, and they were all very satisfied.

His office (on Madison) and home are in Lakewood.

Quite the Tim Laskey fan club here!

Tim is our personal accountant, the accountant for a small business I own with some friends, and my employer's accountant (Lakewood Public Schools Alumni Foundation). He's the best!

Please, please, please! Let's not direct this consumer to use Tim's excellent accounting services. It will cut in to the significant amount of pro-bono work he provides for a variety of community groups throughout Lakewood. We can't have him distracted from being a cornerstone of the wonderful volunteer and community-oriented people that make our community richer.

Tim sounds like quite the go-to guy for all those tax needs. We've happily used Barb Cochrane at RHC Financial on Madison for years as well, so there's another name for you, depending on how swamped Tim is.

Thanks for all the endorsements of Tim Laskey. We did end up using him, and it was a great experience.

Besides, I knew almost immediately he was the right guy. Not only was he from Collinwood, which is where my dad grew up, but Tim also lived many years in Mentor ... only a few blocks away from where I grew up.

See, plenty of good Lakewoodites came over from "the dark side" and managed to be good citizens and neighbors, even if we didn't grow up here or go to LHS.

We need new blood here, no question about it (even if I did meet my way-in-the-future husband in Kindergarten at McKinley Elementary).

There's a lot of energy that is generated by converts.
