road construction

Actually I should say lack of it. I just received a call from my mom who wanted me to post about this issue. They live on Giel and their road is slated for reconstruction sometime in the near future. On the 18th of August a public meeting was held to inform the residents of Giel that road construction would begin by the end of that week. On the 25th of August no parking signs came up. As of today a few X's have been put up on trees and the lines have been marked, but no signs of anything major. My parents called the city to see if people could park on the street this weekend because several parties are being held over the holiday weekend. The woman in the office stated that construction might start at any moment. She also said that if any parked on the street they would be towed and their own expense and that if anyone attempted to take down the signs they would be arrested. Any reasonable person knows that no construction is going to be started on a holiday weekend, especially since work done during holidays always costs more. It would be nice if the residents of Giel could get a written reprieve to park on their street this weekend from the city.
