Smoke, Heat and Lakewood Council and Mayor Fiddled.

It seems that Lakewood city council and mayor were playing their fiddles today while residents, especially the seniors and those with respiratory issues without air conditioning, had to keep the window open to smoke as Canada burned and swelter in plus 90 degree heat index. Additionally, young children who rely on free lunches, since school on summer vacation, had to go hungry while the parents were at work paying taxes to support an absentee city government. We should show our appreciation that the administration at least required the police and fire services to remain in service. Other cities kept their cooling center open and Cleveland extended their recreations building cooling centers hours for residents could escape the smoke and heat.
The current council and mayor have showed their true colors by running from an emergency condition. Their continual propaganda about their care and concern for the residents is a facade. Remember this day of smoke and heat in the 2028 election and remove all who are up for reelection. We need representation and leadership who first priority is the welfare of the city’s resident, not their self interests.
