Happy Thanksgiving to All.

based on a photo by Craig Lovejoy.
Thanksgiving is one of those marvelous holidays, that means the same thing to everyone. It's a day to stop and give thanks to everyone and everything that means something in your life. What started off as a celebration of survival has morphed into so much more than survival. Well, for most of us.
This is also a perfect time to remember that everyone does not have the same experiences. Many are going through a tough time, and as we head into the winter holidays and the cold weather, it only gets tougher for many. Please reach out and donate heavily this time of year to groups that help our fellow humans to take a step up in life or to merely survive. Let’s make this Thanksgiving special by helping others.
A short explanation of this issue's quote: “Oh no! Look, I pea’d on the table.” This is what my Uncle Bud said at every Thanksgiving after placing a pea on the table. We figure that many of us if not all of us have an Uncle Bud, full of life and full of mischief. No matter how many times the rest of us groaned at that joke, he always did it. The good times, memories and value of life just keep coming. That was for all the uncles who love mischief.
We also kick off our Winter Holiday Decorating contest (see rules on a separate post). This year, besides homes and decorators being called out for kudos and prizes, we have started a separate listing for homes that best illustrate “Peace on Earth,” something we all deserve and need.
As always I am thankful for everyone at the Lakewood Observer, and Observer newspapers everywhere. I am most thankful for our advertisers and supporters who have signed up to help ALL Lakewoodites have a voice in today’s world, and a seat at the table of common sense and knowledge.
I am most thankful looking back on another year, and am excited looking forward to next year.
I encourage you to pick up a printed version of the Lakewood Observer at over 100 locations around town. If you are in an apartment, check the mailroom.
