Well another Election Day here and gone.

Another group of plans and people succeeded or failed.

No matter, thank you to all that took the time to run. People have no idea what a commitment, and eye-opening experience running for public office can be.

I would also like to thank all that took the time to vote. It is really the key of the democratic process. Voting and the right to oversee government are the only things keeping America from falling down the rabbit hole of Autocracy. Something Lakewood had a brief brush with during the Summers Administration.

The voters took back what the government had taken away, mainly the ability of a women to control her own body. Something every American deserves and is entitled to.

Which brings us back to Democracy and how it works, and for who. It works for the people that are willing to take part, and work at it. America history is a series of groups over reaching, and other groups taking it back. Slowly over the course of years and decades progress is made. It is not for the lackadaisical that stumble through life hoping things work out.

Issue 2 was also passed, which has meant amazing tax benefits for everyone involved, at a time when government is desperate to find new ways to fund their programs and cities. I also personally think it will mellow the entire state out, and perhaps get us back to a place where we can all get along.

While it was nice seeing some of Lakewood's best political talent unchallenged, it is also disappointing that more did not step forward. Another thing democracy depends on is lively debate and discussions of political ideas and goals.

Well here is Lakewood Observer Volume 19, Issue 21 for your enjoyment. You can pick up a printed version at over 100 businesses and locations around Lakewood. And/Or you can download the digital version here:

Have a great November and look forward to the last three issues of the year, the parties, contests and good times it brings.

Peace/love
