Rumored to be the second oldest house in Lakewood, 1464 Riverside Dr. was torn down yesterday.

The Lakewood Historical Society had looked at the property but passed doing anything with it. After all it was merely the second oldest house.

Here are some photos and a video sent in.

Built it 1854, the house is on Lot 8, on what was Elm St., before Riverside was rerouted. This map is from 1885.

Don't you see the hose on the ground next to the guy sitting and watching?

I learned my lesson when they tore down the Williamson Building, by shear luck I avoided the cloud filled with all sorts of nasty stuff.
Then I noticed the wind, and made sure at every fire and explosion, to work it up wind.

"This ole house once knew his children
This ole house once new his wife
This ole house was home and comfort
As they fought the storms of life
This ole house once rang with laughter
This ole house heard many shouts
Now he trembles in the darkness
When the lightning walks about.
(Ain't a gonna need this house no longer
Ain't a gonna need this house no more)"
