Lakewood Fire Department teamed up with Lakewood Police to take the time to show teachers ways they could save lives, should a student get injured with a puncture wound of various kinds. Yes, they come from variety of reasons, including guns and knives.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how hard the teachers worked to understand what is in the safety bucket, and how to use the items correctly. The bucket contains a variety of things that can be used in an emergency, from simple accident to class lock down. As always Lakewood Fire and Police did an amazing job working with the teachers.

What follows are some photos from the session. If you look through them you will see what was going on, and how hard they worked together for everyone’s safety. We will be publishing the booklet as they are good ideas and protocols that everyone might benefit from.

Thank you Lakewood Fire, Lakewood Police, LHS Teachers, and everyone for a great afternoon.

OK, here are the life saving things in the bucket, in case an active shooter comes into a school.
Some large band-aids, tourniquet, special wadding and wraps for deep wounds, some sugar for diabetics, some toilet paper, for the bucket, in case the children have to stay in place for a long time, Rope, and a curtain to provide a private place to relieve one's self, and some colored duct tape to cover up the widows, so that no one can see in, and fire and police know if you need immediate help.

Hmmmmm, wonder why kids have anxiety issues?
