Brrrrrrrr, fall is here, and even the feel of winter is in the air. It’s doesn’t matter Lakewood keeps generating good stories and we keep publishing them, cataloging them, and keeping them for future generations. You see copies of the Lakewood Observer both in print and online is also archived by local groups like, Lakewood Public Library, the Historical Society and News Museum, they are also digitally kept by YAHOO, Google, and other repositories online.
This issue covers a couple of our favorite events Spooky Pooch, and the Firefighters Recognition Ceremony kick off to Fire Prevention Week. This year’s Spooky Pooch brought a record number of dogs and spectators to Historic South Birdtown, as over 225 dogs and owners got dressed up and paraded around for all to enjoy. It is a funny event, each year I see something that breaks my heart, gives me hope, and makes me laugh. Like a typical day in Lakewood.
The same was true about the kick off to Fire Prevention Week. While it was sad seeing some great firefighters retire. It was also refreshing see the new recruits and the excitement they bring. There were more amazing stories told during the ceremonies.
We cover that and a whole lot more, Lakewood Women’s Club comes in big! As do many other groups like the schools, libraries, and non-profits.
You can pick up the print edition of the Lakewood Observer at over 100 locations around town.
