New Firefighters And Old - Everyone In The Fire!

I am a little embarrassed but this is how this actually went down. The other day at the Firefighter Recognition Ceremony Chief Tim Dunphy asked if I would be interested in see the new people train. I said sure. This morning was cold, rainy, and just miserable, I texted Chief Dunphy, "Are you really doing this today?" Minutes later came the replay, "Yes James, we are called on in all sorts of weather, including rain. This will be great training." I felt like a fool, of course they do, but did he have to sound so happy and eager?

Behind the Tri-C Parma Campus is a whole area for police and fire departments to practice all sorts of things, including live fires.

Pulling in the Lakewood Fire Department was in full operation.

Fire command.
A huge part of this and every training exercise they do is to get better at working with each other, and knowing they can count on one another. When new recruits are brought in, training like this makes them members of the family, and brings them up to speed on how we do it.

Seth gives two thumbs up for the question on how the new recruits were doing.
Thank you to Lakewood Fire Department for allowing me to come along.
