Theodore John Conrad, Lakewood graduate class of 67, and legendary bank robber has been found dead.

In July of 1969 Ted was working as a bank teller at Society National Bank on Public Square. He left work with a smile and nearly a quarter-million dollars and disappeared.

What make him a Lakewood legend is that at every LHS Class of 67 reunion or meeting, there would always be one or two FBI agents at the gatherings.

It has been reported that Theodore John Conrad's body was identified, he had died 6 months ago.

I was just reading about this. What a bizarre story.

For those who, like me, only just heard about this guy the cleveland.com story covers a lot.

Ted was in my World History class, sophomore year. In 1977 when I was a candidate for Council I went over to our class secretary's house (Sue Verdova Mandrella) to review the names of classmates coming to our 10th reunion. Under the "F" was FBI! Sue said they were coming to see if Ted showed up!

A movie adaptation of the story would seem to write itself.
