Some Good News On COVID

There is no good news on COVID-19, and it seems to be getting worse. Houston is predicting and severe uptick in COVID based on the percentages turning up in wastewater. Yes COVID in water. There in Houston testing shows a 400% raise in COVID in wastewater.
Which brings on the obvious question… Can it be transmitted in water? Well as of right now, no variant is known to have caused transmission through water alone. However crowded beaches and pools could aid the spread through the air.

This does not mean another variant might not switch into water transfer mode. With that in mind Water treatment plants treat water to kill COVID-19 along with another bunch of pathogens. So far now we are safe.
Which brings us to COVID in animals. Recent reports show that COVID-19 has jumped heavily into the deer population. As of now it is not relieved that you can get COVID from eating a diseased deer. However a jump to deer would underline that cows and horses are also under threat. It mentions in the article that the Mink population is showing signs of infection too.
“Two-thirds of Michigan deer had COVID-19 antibodies in federal study“

And final news blurb on COVID you might have missed…
Israel is making a 3rd shot of vaccine, whichever you had mandatory as a booster. Their attitude was it is probably headed that way so they wanted a head start. This week it was started for 60 and older.
Stay tuned…

And then there is this...
A variant from Peru, called the Lambda Variant, and it is resistant to vaccines, and works on a completely different set of amino acids and proteins in your body.
1,000 cases reported in America.

There was no real federal leadership for the first 11 months of the pandemic. This was left mostly to initiative of state and local governments. These initiatives were very unpopular with a large portion of the population. I believe the first six months of them prevented the deaths of between two to six million Americans. Some of you may be able to say, "well, I can sweat the first two million. That's no reason to change anything". But it surpasses a threshold at some point. Three or four or five or six million. Then you get some sort of mass panic that might cause civilization collapse.

As an FYI, the study for the lambda variant was NOT done using Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. It was done with the China vaccine. Not that it isn't serious, but it is not that it is "all vaccine resistant". At least not yet.

It ain't over, by a long shot. For awhile I thought we had stocked in too many masks. Nope. We are vaccinated and probably will get the booster when available.

It is not that serious yet?
Matthew I would say the only good news out of all of this is we went from Delta - Lambda which means there were seven variants that were not worse. That is the only news I take out of this.
Behind the scenes they are predicting as much as a 400% rise in Ohio cases over the next two weeks.
I think we went past really serious in May of 2020.
