Friday saw Gale Force Winds come in and kick up Lake Erie.
Waves were big.
Real big!
Short video of the waves
Big damage too!
On Clifton.
Now look at all of the wires that should be underground.
In Lakewood council concentrates on bar traffic not secure power and beautiful streets.

Great job, Jim, as always.
If Lakewood doesn't want you, the Weather Channel does.

I wonder what underground wires would do to the already stratospheric housing values in this town?
We could all retire early and enjoy the hurricanes down south.

All new developments have had, for years, buried electrical cables. Bad weather and fallen trees may down above ground lines but that’s not a problem with buried lines.
The electric utility SHOULD have had a plan to systematically update all old above ground lines. This SHOULD have been instituted MANY years ago, but they are too cheap despite the high price we pay in NEO for electricity.
We should demand better service from First Energy

So the LOGISTICAL problem they claim Is precisely what I said - MONEY.
Despite high rates and years of protection by the government they heavily lobby, they cry about having to spend money to improve the service for the customer.
They want to direct money to shareholders.
It’s the American way!

there are layers of existing infrastructure to deal with when moving power lines underground. water lines. gas lines. sewer and drainage lines. and layers of surface paving.
when you build an entire new development in an undeveloped field there are fewer obstacles. but after 40 years you end up with similar problems. but the lines are harder to repair. because they are under layers of paving. and near water lines, gas lines, sewer and drainage lines, and 40 years of tree roots.

Perhaps there should be a study comparing the costs of the above-ground lines with the underground lines.

Even AT&T is burying their UVerse equipment (those ugly refrigerator-like utility boxes). They’re going city by city, but it’s getting done.
