As the world continues to struggle with COVID-19 and all of the problems and confusions it causes, we continue to go on with the help of Lakewoodites, residents, businesses, non-profits, city hall, schools, the arts and yes you should take part too!
This issue of the Lakewood Observer sees another candidate throw their hat in for the retiring Judge Patrick Carroll, Ward 1 Councilmember Tess Neff. We have some great news on Lakewood students, businesses and restaurants. One ready to open, one trying something new for Lakewood. TOST a sandwich shop from Tommy of Greek Village fame, and Madison Take Out goes Guatemalan on the weekends!
News from non-profits. We joking called this the Grant Issue because so many stories were for looking to award grants, grant submissions, grants being awarded and the latest from LakewoodAlive, LCSC, and others.
Thank you to all. Isn't it time you got involved?

I'll have to look later but if there's any mention whatsoever of Grant School that would really seal it.

As we all predicted, Tess Neff cynically ran for City Council as a means to promote her judicial candidacy.
This sets up another "backroom handoff" of a council spot if/when she's elected to the bench.

Nice to see you stop by.
Tes Neff made it clear to me, and I reported it here on the Deck that she would run for Pat Carroll's empty seat, at the time she was running council.
I do agree with youre hand-off comment, as being far to normal in Lakewood.
As for this council, it would seem that the city is far more at ease with this group than in the past.
I get very few calls about outrage, and most I talk to while making the runs seem at peace with Mayor and Council
I would also point out that there are a couple on Council that are working overtime to make their names household names for their next move.

2020 - The Leadership Year
I appreciate the commitment of all of our local elected and appointed public officials.
While I may disagree with specific policy outcomes, I think the new Mayor has more than met the challenge.
True leaders are born in hardship and 2020 was a make-or-break year. I wish her wisdom, strength and fortitude in 2021.
While I know I sound like a broken record on this -- Thank you to the Lakewood Observer for making an even bigger difference in our lives this year!
