This morning I had a pleasure that comes around every year, and always makes me smile. The awarding of the Junior Fire Chief Trophy for best essay written by a Lakewood Student for fire prevention week.
This year the winner was Aeron Jones a 5th grade student at Horace Mann.

Fire truck pulls up in front of Aeron's home, but he has not been told he is a winner.

Still unsure of what is happening. Fire Marshal Ryan Fairbanks and Fire Inspector Scott Thomas explain he has won the Junior Fire Chief Award!

Junior Fire Chief Aeron Jones holds his trophy! From left to right: Fire Marshall Ryan Fairbanks, Junior Fire Marshall Aeron Jones and Fire Inspector Scott Thomas, behind the wheel is Fire Inspector Mike Madwijiw.
You can read his essay on Page 1, of the new Lakewood Observer, 16_19 online and on the streets this afternoon!

Way to go Aeron!
