From my previous post (on 7/17) re: Ohio COVID-19 numbers:
From 4/8/20 to 5/7/20 (29 days),
121,719 tests (4197 tests/day average)
16,983 positive (13.95% positive)

From 5/7/20 to 5/22/20 (15 days),
122.025 tests (8135 tests/day average)
8663 positive (7.10% positive)

From 7/9/20 to 7/17/20 (8 days),
200,114 tests (25.111 tests/day average)
10,889 positive (5.44% positive)


NEWER DATA (from posts on this forum):
From 7/24/20 to 7/30/20 (6 days),
178,517 tests (29,752 tests/day average)
7880 positive (4.41% positive)

Conclusion:
The average number of tests per day is higher and the percent testing positive is lower than they've ever been.
This way of looking at the numbers is more meaningful than just posting the total numbers of tests, cases, and new cases.
It looks to me like Ohio is going in the right direction. (Granted, we still have room for improvement.)

From 7/30/20 to 8/11:
257,609 tests (21,467 tests/day average)
13,200 positive (5.12% positive)

Fewer tests/day (on average) but slightly higher percent positive compared to my last post.

I repeat: This way of looking at the numbers is more meaningful than just posting the total numbers of tests, cases, and new cases.

When we all truly accept what the numbers represents ... HUMAN LIVES ... only then will this pandemic be taken seriously.

The fewer tests was confirmed in a conversation I had recently with someone who works with the testing program of one of the area's three big health systems.

I'd like to see more local test sites offering tests at low or no cost, especially in Lakewood, and more transparency about the rapid results tests when offered.

From 8/11 to 8/18:
160,863 tests (22,980 tests/day average)
7,097 positive (4.41% positive)

About 1,500 more tests per day (average) than last week.
Percent positive is back down to what it was two weeks ago (the lowest rate since the beginning).

From 8/18 to 8/28:
271,476 tests (27,148/day average)
10,201 positive (3.76% positive)

Over 4,000 more tests per day (average) than my last posting.
Percent positive is down to less than 4% (the lowest rate since the beginning).

From 8/28 to 9/13:
451,965 tests (28,248/day average)
17,281 positive (3.82% positive)

Percent positive is almost the same as it was in my last posting (3.76%).

11,489 positive (2.87% positive)

Very good, but beware of the seond wave. It's out there.

From 9/25 to 10/3:
322,319 tests (40,290/day average)
9,072 positive (2.81% positive)

Nearly 6,900 more tests per day (average) than my last posting.
Percent positive is about the same as last time (still less than 3%).

So, on our walk today, we passed a local diner, which I will not name here, but is very popular with Lakewoodites. We were shocked to see every booth was full, each stool at the counter, no social distancing whatsoever. The staff was wearing masks, and there was a line outside to get in. Aren't the bars and restaurants in Lakewood supposed to be a half capacity or enforcing social distancing? People with their backs against the backs of those in the booths behind them (with no plexiglass) is beyond careless and greedy. I was disappointed to see this in Lakewood. And apparently, their customers don't care. We will NEVER get rid of COVID this way.

From 10/3 to 10/14:
406,844 tests (36,986/day average)
15,699 positive (3.86% positive)

Over 3,000 fewer tests per day (average) than my last posting.
Percent positive is up about 1% from last time.

471,500 tests (42,864/day average)
24,450 positive (5.19% positive)

Nearly 6000 more tests per day (average) than my last posting.
Percent positive is up about 1.3% from last time, and about 2.4% higher
than Ohio's lowest rate (2.81%) at the beginning of October.

443,191 tests (44,319/day average)
32,094 positive (7.24% positive)

Percent positive is up about 2% from my last post 10 days ago.

420,303 tests (52,538/day average)
76,342 positive (18.16% positive)

Percent positive is up almost 11% from my last post 8 days ago.
This is the highest positivity rate since I've been analyzing the data. (It was 13.95% in April.)
