Bees -- Those Marvelous And Wondrous Creatures
At a time when our City Council is physically incapable of actually meeting in public due to a global pandemic of historic proportions, they don't appear to be up to much that isn't laudatory -- bees, bee-keeping, raises, and the recognition of the 100th anniversary of a crucial amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
I've been worried about Lakewood's bees and bee-keepers for a long time now.
High on the agenda (7/6) was an initiative to end the statutory suppression of bees and bee-keeping.
Luckily enough, once freed from this oppression, bees unlike their canine brethren, will not be required to have special leads.

Re: Bees
Expert Medical Advice Needed
Just like the risk of Covid-19, with a relatively high fatality rate (5+%), a similar risk exists for those subject to anaphlactic shock from venom stings.
Here is an example of the risk:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2324411/
It is serious and deadly. Obviously, I have no medical training.

Re: Bees
Time For Medical Expert Support
If Lakewood City Council decides to take on the burden of enacting legislation that has potential detrimental effects on the health of its residents or their visitors, it should only do so under the considered advice of the relevant experts.
Bees are truly marvelous and wonderful. For some people adverse contact with them can result in severe impairment or death.
Let's take the time to get this right.
Same with Covid-19.
