They’ve done a Fauci on her.

I have read reports that Governor DeWine is keeping her on as his chief health adviser. Yay!

Alright you Ohio loyalists, disabuse me of the notion that this is pretty stupid state. Not as bad as some, but still pretty lame.
Defend your honor!!!

She was nothing more than a single soda cracker in a vast desert. Since day one both she and DeWine assured us testing was just a couple weeks away. For 4 months they assured us proper testing was just two weeks away. To this day testing has not increased anywhere near where they promised. Also there was no shutdown no call for masks until way too late. And the shutdown was merely a suggestion. "If you feel your business is essential you may stay open." Which allowed jewelry stores, all sorts of stuff to remain open, or at least have an underground network of staying public.

Better than Trump, sure, kind of.

For those that forget...

Mitt Romney Rally in Cuyahoga Falls.

The State of Ohio is not just Red but Trump country. South of the Turnpike, Trump Pence signs never came down.

And every time Dr. Acton and DeWine tried to make meaningful changes, they would bend to the cries from the right.

Screw science, screw their own beliefs bend to the right, and now we shall see.

Reading this thread really spells out to me why Acton resigned.

People on the right : she's doing too much and overstepping her authority. How horrible!

People on the left : she's not doing enough and is bending to the right. How horrible!

With the time and effort she was putting in (rumors had her at about 3-4 hours of sleep a day) it's no wonder she stepped down. Who wants to do the right thing yet still get beat up by both sides. It's a no win situation for one's work/life balance.

The lawsuit maybe, the comments doubtful unless her boss was also too bothered by them.

One would hope and I have no reason to believe otherwise did what she thought was right, within the parameters as set by DeWine. That was her job.

Stepping into the public light, brings with it public pressure. While I would expect a politician to bend back and forth in the political winds, not a doctor or scientist.

I hope she finds happiness or whatever she seeks. Perhaps a nice book deal, something called, "All Ohioans Get Blue Ribbons!."

When she wants people to know, maybe she will speak.

I am guessing as I did not see this as a Left/Right issue... the left(?) wants to be safer, and the right(?) wants the economy back magically?

I think she was unable to fully lead the fight due to pressure from Republicans. She knows exactly what needs to be done from a public health standpoint, but some people have yet to realize that by not addressing the immediate need - health and safety- there can be no real economic recovery.

With her training, it must have been difficult to constantly be shut down.

And there apparently were threats against her family.

Outdoor music venues are also starting a lawsuit against Dr. Acton. This and the other lawsuits are against here and not just the State of Ohio.

Not too long ago, Chris Rock and Rosie Perez showed up for Gov. Cuomo's press briefing. They were doing a PSA about Covid for NYS. Toward the end of the the Q&A, Cuomo was talking about a kid on spring break in Frorida, who said he wasn't afraid of "corona" because he couldn't catch it, so meanwhile he was just going to party on. Cuomo took a breath and Chris Rock cracked with perfect comic timing, "And now he's dead." I don't think that was anything but a joke but I think of it every time I hear from these Covid deniers. It's a matter of life and death.
