When it comes to describing just how bad thing are financially it was interesting to see the Wall Street Journal mirror a graphic technique once used by the Lakewood Observer to show just how bad a financial deal will be.

First the Lakewood Observer from February 15, 2015. Before the Hospital closing was officially unveiled to Lakewood residents. We had a team of 7 professionals from the healthcare, legal and accounting that came up with one conclusion. The Hospital Deal Mayor Summers and team were fighting for would bankrupt the City of Lakewood. Even if it had been built. Our financial projections were based on it being successful.

Lakewood Observer financial chart for the hospital deal outlined in the LOI. It also pointed out , just locking the doors would have netted Lakewood $200 million more than the proposed deal.

Today's New York Times using the same technique explaining the Unemployment crisis today.

Sometime to help people understand just how bad and screwed up things are in real life, you have to run the chart off the bottom of the front page.

Will people listen? Depends on the wall of noise and lies that follow from those in charge. Just as it was here in Lakewood.

No. They haven't and they won't. At least in the few years I've lived here. Money talks and everything else walks.
