A Special Wish From Simon - Granted 10 Fold
Posted: Tue Apr 14, 2020 3:48 pm
A young Lakewood boy named Simon has just finished up his chemotherapy at the Cleveland Clinic recently. Well today was his birthday, a reason to celebrate anyway, but this year it meant so much more to everyone. As part of Special Wish Foundation's Cleveland Chapter, Simon was slated to have a ride around the city in a Lakewood Fire Truck. Well in the time of COVID-19 that is not possible for a variety of reasons. So it was going to be canceled. But anyone that knows Lakewood Fire Chief Tim Dunphy knows that was not going to happen. The man is a hopeless romantic and lover of people.

Simon is his fire truck, a present from Cleveland Clinic Foundation, listens to his father Mark explain, "I think we should be looking that way."

Parents Mark and Autumn flanked by their children Mary and Simon.

Here they come.

Fire trucks

Police cars

Firemen

More fire trucks

More firemen

SWAT

more police, so many more police and fire that...

... I could walk down the block and still see fire trucks coming!

Friends and neighbors.

The Mayor of Lakewood Meghan George!

Lakewood Police stopped to deliver some special presents.

Followed by the Lakewood Fire Department and the Mayor, all with gifts.
That is not enough, no, not on this special day.

Fire trucks spray the media!

All in all, a great time was had by all. It was a great break from all the days that blend together.
