Nice crowd!

Congrats again to Meghan George!

It’s a new year in Lakewood, and a new chance to set things right.

Congrats to Mayor George! And a very special "congrats" to the Lakewood electorate!

Any buzz about changes in Department Directors? Finance? Law? Planning/Development?

Yes, but I will let Mayor George announce her crew.

I think there is enough in there to make most happy.

Even the tourist.

Is there a timeline for announcements and appointments?

I don't think there is any timeline. This morning I saw garbage trucks out, a street cleaner scrubbing the curbs, and heard regular calls for service on the scanner. I think this Mayor like others is making careful selections.

Julie and I both attended the inauguration and were very impressed by the entire event. The auditorium was packed with citizens and politicians, City workers, and most of the current council (how embarrassing it had to be that Litten's name was called and he was a no-show) . .

Most impressive was the Mayor herself, who pledged not only unity, but TRANSPARENCY in City government. I believe it was the desire for transparency which was the tipping point of her winning the election.
Overall, you could feel the energy and excitement in the room that signaled change for the better is coming to Lakewood.

We had a few minutes to talk to the Mayor and you could tell that she is both humbled and excited to serve the City that she loves . . .

Thank you for that report, Amy, as I was unable to attend.

It sounded like an upbeat, positive event!

Councilman Litten was out of town. I know he is eager to work with Mayor George.

Isn't this a talking point for all the council reps? Are any of them not saying this?

We have heard from neighbors who know Litten personally that he was an O'Leary supporter.

And yes, "Eager to work with the new Mayor" is a talking point that has been used for generations.

Amy

John was an O'Leary supporter, but some can separate the contest from the job. Only time will tell.

However, I asked Mayor George about the turnout, and she said, "Actually John called me to say he would be out of town, and I forgot to mention that to Mike Skindell who was the person announcing "John Litten is not here."

John will be judged by his actions over the coming months and years, as will the rest of them.
