Sam O'Leary= The $150,000 Loser

Final reports aren't in, but Sam the Sham outspent Meghan George by a HUGE margin. I've heard one estimate that he raised $150,000 (earlier filings already had him at $100K).
This is compared to about $40,000 for George.
O'Leary also had all the Establishment endorsements from the Establishment Democratic organizations.

With a performance this dismal, I would hope that council will NOT put him into the vacant at-large seat. He is badly damaged goods.
He joins Cindy Marx, Nowlin, David Anderson, and Madigan in the political graveyard. (Bullock is "walking dead" for two more years).

Based on his corrupt, dishonest campaign, I hope O'Leary NEVER holds office again.

Based on the results last night, I assume Cindy or Sam will return.

Neither are deserving of a council seat.

They were roundly rejected by the people in an open election.

Council should carefully consider any attempt to subvert the electoral process.

As Clint Eastwood said in "Unforgiven", "Deserve has nothin' to do with it".

I'm sure Marx and Sam will lobby for the seat. They are both shameless self promoters.
However, the SMART move for Team Summers would be to pick a fresh new face that is already in their camp. Election results of the past two years show that voter reject anyone who was on Council during the Hospital issue. (O'Leary, Marx, Nowlin, Bullock)
However, the voters WILL support Establishment candidates that are at least one step removed from the hospital. (Litten, Shachner, Neff)

I'm thinking it would be someone along the lines of Lindsey Grdina.

I think our question has been answered.
It looks like Pae will get the appointment.....Cindy Marx will not be pleased!
Pae is an ideal fit for the position.
She has years of experience lying on behalf of the Establishment...and tons of social media experience. :-)

She’ll be making a lot less to run that FB page!

Does anybody know what the City Charter #3 says about this situation?

Does it even address such a situation?

If Pae gets the nod, boy, I can't wait to vote her out too!!!

The real question is, will the stroking of her ego be enough for her to take such a pay cut?

She was going to be fired by the new administration, so there is no "pay cut".
She has preemptively announced her "resignation".

I'm guessing there will be some "resignations" from other departments, too. Think Law, Planning/Development Department and Human Resources Departments.

The photo on this page, showing a diverse group of smiling people raises a question for me. What is the actual percentage of various races and ethnic groups in Lakewood city government? What is the percentage of population of these same races and groups in Lakewood? Cuyahoga County? The State of Ohio? The United States?

My daughter just earned a masters in accounting from CSU. Would she qualify? We've been looking for a reason to move them closer.
Brad Presutto would be a strong candidate for Human Resources.

Marx couldn't win the precinct position she ran for!! She should not get any appointed Lakewood position, she has lost at multiple levels and deserves nothing. Jenn Pae has a long history to run on - only the voters can decide whether her association with Summers/Fitz and his sycophants will doom her to the same fate as O'Leary, Marx etc. It will be interesting as to who the council will appoint, will Litton, Neff, Bullock, Shachner & O'Malley break from the failed Machine and vote for the best interests of Lakewood, or their own self-perceived reliance on the failed Summers/Fitz machine?
