Plan For The Renewal Of Your Ohio Drivers License

You will want to rifle through all of your family documents to find just what you need.

Here is a link to the compliant document list at the Ohio BMV:

https://www.bmv.ohio.gov/dl-identity-documents.aspx

You can count on spending about an hour at your local BMV Deputy Registrar's Office to obtain your federal (TSA) compliant drivers license. Be patient. They are doing their best on this.

Some Ohioans will find themselves excluded from air travel on a de facto basis when they arrive at the airport with an old-style license, if they aren't careful on this.

Ohio Driver Licenses and Identification (DL-ID) cards issued prior to July 2, 2018, will not be accepted by Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) after October 1, 2020. Consider renewing early if you want to have a driver license or identification card that is federally compliant.

If you want to be able to use your DL-ID to board a plane after October 1, 2020, renew early and follow the guidelines for issuance of a Compliant card.

I got mine a few months ago. Is there any way to determine if it is indeed "compliant"? I got it at Warren Village and didn't have to wait too long.

Thanks for sharing, Mark.
I would hate to be a TSA employee next October.

p.s. I bet many readers expected me to make a snarky Ed FitzGerald joke. Believe me, it was tempting....
