Lakewood candidates respond to new, mysterious PAC

We, the undersigned candidates, have received or been made aware of a questionnaire from a newly formed Political Action Committee (PAC) entitled “Lakewood Neighbors for Good Government.” We invite all of the candidates for Lakewood city government to join us by ignoring the request for completion of the questionable document. Here is why:

We believe the motives of the “Lakewood Neighbors for Good Government” are not altruistic, despite the benign and welcoming name. It is wise to be wary of a new PAC that rises from nowhere just weeks before an election with no mechanism for oversight. The PAC claims to be “doing their part in collecting information for an informed electorate,” and plans to share our responses in letters to the editor and on social media pages. An entity with this purpose and earnest intentions would surely have formed many months ago, taking the time to build trust with the community and the candidates. This organization was formed a couple of days ago.

Unfortunately, Lakewood has seen attempts to mislead the public in recent elections. Most notably, the faux newspaper that was disseminated by Ed Fitzgerald in 2015. This PAC is led by a former employee and appointee of Mr. Fitzgerald, as well as Mary Louise Madigan, current spokesperson of the struggling Cuyahoga County administration of Armond Budish. These reasons alone give us pause as to its motivations.

We feel it is our duty to inform the voters that this type of behavior is occurring behind the scenes. It appears the “Lakewood Neighbors for Good Government” is an organization attempting to portray itself as a well-intentioned civic entity and we look forward to working with such an organization when they have stood the test of time through sustained civic engagement, transparent rules, and a history of broad membership. Excellent examples are the League of Women Voters and the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce.

You deserve candidates that communicate honestly, transparently, and under direct scrutiny. The best mechanism for you to learn about each of us as candidates is through our direct communication with you. We will continue our proactive campaigns by having conversations directly with you - online, on the phone, and at your doors. We stand together for ethical and transparent governance because we believe Lakewood deserves integrity.

This is SO Ed Fitzgerald.

Like the fake newspaper in the last election - he claims he was an “investor” in “neighborhood news” but the paper spread lies to influence an election.

Who are these people?

Fitzgerald, a disgraced gubernatorial candidate that brought down the entire statewide Dem ticket when it was learned that he didn’t have a drivers license for over 10 years, is using his leftover campaign funds to again meddle in Lakewood politics.

Nate Kelly, a Fitz appointee who he took to the county with him.

Mary Louise Madigan, a former councilwoman who lied about the hospital until she got caught, now part of the corrupt Cuyahoga County Administration, dealing with media and covering up all the jail issues and now the IT scandal for Budish.

These people are not to be trusted.

Spare us your “concern” for good government.

If you really had any, you’d all get out of it.

Just say no to the ex-politicans/adminstrators/ that were responsible for the worst deal in Lakewood's history.
$248 million in publicly owned assets gone. POOF! Meanwhile this crew steered the land to ex-Mayor Ed FitzGerlad for $1.00.

I mean anyone in politics in Lakewood realizes, that anything Nate Kelley and Mary Louise Madigan does, have Ed FitzGerald crouching in the shadows.

So at least Nate's name is on it.

Of course that also brings in the sweetheart deal out ex-Mayor got from the current Mayor and old council. It also brings in the all the dirt of the Nate Kelley Armond Buddish messed up county politics.

It also brings up the secret enclave desperate to run Lakewood like a little kingdom. Which should bring into question every candidate backed by council members and mayors that sold our health care up the river.

Lakewood needs clean politics, sunshine on every process, and Ed FitzGerald to simply move on with his gang of thugs.

Question No. 8

There was NO redevelopment of Lakewood Hospital. It was looted and leveled.

At anytime in the past 20 years, elected officials and hospital leadership could have redeveloped Lakewood Hospital from either its profits or an issuance of hospital revenue bonds.

Those individuals involved in site preparation and the building of the tricked-out "strip mall" should be laughed out of the community.

In what universe do elected officials tear down an award-winning public community hospital?

I do not know who this Mr. Kelly is. If he wants to run the City of Lakewood, he should take out a petition and run for office like those he is attempting to survey.

My advice to Ms. Madigan is not to lie when you are being interviewed by investigating authorities.

Jay Carson, the man who proudly proclaimed his life’s work was

finding new and exciting ways to destroy The Little Guy on behalf of The Man." is also involved.

It's a beautiful day in the Good Government Lakewood Neighborhood when Jay Carson and Mrs. Madigan team up.

Does Mary Louis Madigan have no shame?

First she dropped out of her 2015 Council Race in complete disgrace.
Then she becomes mouthpiece for Armond Budish, one of the most corrupt politicians in the entire nation. (Does any other jail in the US have a "body count" of nine?)
Now she wants to play a role in determining this year's elections.

Much like Cindy Marx, she simply refuses to go away.

Same goes for Jay Carson....he has learned nothing from the ass-whuppin' he took in last year's State Rep race.

Read all about it.

The leaders behind this don’t even want to be interviewed.

Seems against their “good neighbor” claim?

Yet another misleading headline ... not a lot of mystery behind this one. ;-)

Ineptness at the county. But,
Cuyahoga County spokeswoman Mary Louise Madigan did not return a message seeking comment. County officials have not said how Torres-Vargas escaped.
MLM must be very busy with her new PAC!!

Mark Kindt wrote: Here's some information on our new local political action committee -- "Lakewood Neighbors for Good Government" So..could the Vice Treasurer of this PAC possibly be a REALTOR(R)? http://www.cushmanwakefield.com/en/people/nathan-kelly
from Nathan Kelly's bio:
He was a critical player in the revitalization of Downtown Cleveland, leading redevelopment projects that included historic renovations of once-empty office buildings and the redevelopment of the Playhouse Square District. Kelly also led Cuyahoga County’s role in the 2016 RNC Convention in Cleveland.

The RNC Convention is as Republican as you can get. Republicans masquerading as Democrats, forming a PAC to run "their" Democrats, in their zeal to privatize public assets. Wake up, people.
