In this issue, we have an article by Eric Sandy coming back he wanted to cover The lawsuit against the City for the right to see public documents. Eric has written for the PD, Sun Papers, Scene and others before becoming the editor of a glossy magazine. He followed The Hospital Debacle closely and wrote about it while at the Scene.

Eric will be tackling timelines and story lines, all before the next election. After all, it is important for all voters, no matter where you stand on the loss of Lakewood Hospital, to see and understand what really happened, and how our elected officials failed miserably at their fiduciary responsibilities to us. You will also see first hand how current and past elected officials worked together to keep important facts from you, the voter, in 3 elections.

Eric, welcome back, and thank you.

I would also like to congratulate all 301 LHS Graduates, and we have them all in the paper with a picture of the class in an easy to pull out format for parents, friends, relatives and others to grab for their memories.

As always, thank you to all volunteers, advertisers, writers, photographers, and those that support this project.

Peace/love

Eric Sandy sounds like a great addition to the LO community.

I agree, Eric has written for the LO before, but when the decision was made he called and asked if he could do the wrap. I was very happy to hear that.

Over the course of a couple meetings, he wants to continue writing for the Observers, and has received permission from his current employer as their is no overlap in what we are doing.

We also have Erin O'Brien coming back, and Michael Heaton has promised a piece on music before summer is over.

We have some other retired writers all working on stories.

A good summer ahead!

Very interesting article. As an outsider, in the sense that he doesn’t live in Lakewood, I think he offers an objective opinion and perspective not tainted by the tribal nature of this city.

He clearly sees the lies and subterfuge and how the city’s withholding documents played into the attempt to confuse the public before the vote.

Years from now, people will wonder things like “how did they elect Trump?” and why did Lakewood give away their hospital?

I hope such an excellent piece of journalism is a turning point for this town.
