The Architectural Board of Review will hold a special meeting next Tuesday, April 23rd at 6 p.m. in the City Hall auditorium. The sole agenda item is the One Lakewood Place development plan.

I didn't see the announcement on the web site but I will resist the temptation to call it a secret meeting.

So they move another strip mall deep into another residential area.

I was assured it was not, as nothing has really been drawn up yet, and they are still unsure what will really be going there.

That's right 3 years of HURRY HURRY HURRY for nothing, is typical of this gang that can't shoot straight or tell the truth.

Mayor Summers, Law Director, Finance Director Council President Sam O'Leary would all rather lie and cover up than spend just one second being honest with Lakewoodites.

Seems like the only thing they really accomplished was the swift transfer of 42 million from fixing the hospital to friends of the Mayor to manage.

Frankly, I do not see any positive change underway, nor do I expect any.

The adverse decisions that have been made are all expensive and irrevocable.

One way or another, a mixed-use development will be constructed upon the wreckage of Lakewood Hospital.

The wealthy will have access to new upscale town homes.

The citizens will subsidize that access.

Those in need can move elsewhere or do without.

That's the real message.

We just need to be honest with ourselves about what has happened and what is happening.

There is no hospital coming back, yes.

Many in the City more comfortable with the lies told by City Hall, than the truth.

However, the people that lied and covered up the truth need to be held high and remembered. For their part in not only the largest failure of a City Government in the area. But also the lies, scheming and scamming that accompanied it.

We cannot afford to forget the line of succession set up by the scammers Ed FitzGerald to Mike Summers to Sam O'Leary. ZERO regards for residents or truth. We must not forget those involved for over 7 years that lied and said they knew nothing about it. FitzGerald, Summers, Butler, Bullock, Madigan, Litten and O'Leary. We must never forget those on council that stood by doing nothing why the residents had to commit to thousands of hours and dollars in a costly lawsuit to get documents ever court said were public. Council President Sam O'Leary, John Litten, David Anderson, Tom Bullock, Cindy Marx that never once took the time to see if all the reports were true. That the entire deal was a scheme to get Foundation dollars and property for a small group to build on.

Right now the people above are including accountability, transparency and honesty in their campaign literature. And who would blame them, lying has worked so far in their political careers.

No, this group wants accountability, time to bring it, not shy away.

3. Subsidies granted.

4. Water/Sewer rates increased.

5. Local hospital-based charity care eliminated.

6. Locally high rates of childhood poverty, lack of health insurance, high rates of disability documented by retained City experts in 2018.

The majority of our elected representatives were/are on-board for all of this when they dismantled the safety-net and proclaimed that healthcare was changing.

Not one of them would participate in any attempt to request review by outside officials to examine alleged "bad government" improprieties identified by numerous public interest lawyers.

What should I be expecting?

Lakewood has chosen the path of taxpayer-subsidized gentrification at the expense of its residents who are most in need of healthcare services.

That path has extensive "buy-in" from all the civic leadership regardless of honesty, transparency, and accountability.

How much has the Healthy Lakewood Foundation spent on local healthcare initiatives since the hospital closed in 2016? $0.00

How much has the City of Lakewood committed to upscale gentrification? $30,000,000.

We need to stop pretending that public discourse about municipal issues has achieved anything.

If you count the approximately $21,000,000 of hospital-based charity care that could have been delivered locally in 2016, 2017, and 2018, the spread between healthcare service deprivation and taxpayer subsidies for gentrification is about $50 million dollars.

I have one vote and I shall use that vote in 2019 to vote against any incumbent on my local ballot.

What are the dimensions needed for a soccer field...with room for a river running through it?

I would like to fly fish right in Lakewood instead of having to go all the way down to the Rocky River.

The ABR meeting is Tuesday, March 23 at 6 PM. I plan on attending.

If ABR approves significant changes in the development would that require a new vote by Council?

I've been told that Hospital officials were aware of the problems with the site for many years. Did they communicate those problems to the City?

If not why not?

If so was council made aware of those problems?

Why did Council approve a plan than would never be built?
