It was with much sadness I am announcing the last day for Namaste serving their high quality Southern Indian cuisine will be this coming Sunday,

Opened November 15, 2014 by the Sharma brothers, who also own India Garden farther west on Detroit but also in Lakewood. The space was acquired during a period of turmoil in India Garden and restaurants in DowntowN Lakewood. The Sharma as was documented at the time were assured, that the location would be perfect for them, as "the doctors and nurses at Lakewood Hospital should keep them busy." OF course this was the same person that assure still smoking, "If you just sell to the University of Akron Students, you should do really well."

Ramesh and Sanjeev will come back together at India Garden, where they are contentiously winning awards for best food in many categories. Their brunch is legendary as is their evening menu. When I asked Ramesh where would i get Chettinad Curry now as no Indian restaurant in town serves it. He laughed and said, "Jim you lived 40 years without it, you will do fine." Which I take to mean there will be no blending of the menus.

OK, one last question, "Does this mean Goat Soup will be back at India Garden?" He smiled and "Yes Jim, I will start making the Goat Soup again!" Which I took as great news. While the Chittinad sauces are some of the most complex great tasting dishes in Lakewood, it is not as powerful as their goat soup. The Goat Soup recipe is from their grandmother, and takes a week to make. Not only it spicy and delicious, but it is great for all that ails a person.

So if you crave Southern Indian tastes, and/or great vegan food, stop by Namaste at 14412 Detroit Rd. up until Monday. After that we will be left with the finest India Restaurant in Northern Ohio India Garden, 18405 Detroit Rd. on the west side of Lakewood. Lakewood's West Side Story is great entertainment and dinning.©

Their closing couldn’t possibly have anthing to do with a slowdown in business after the closing of the hospital?

Bridget

While they were told by the city in the fall of 2014 the spot was great because of all the doctors and nurses, while in fact the city knew it was closing. Neither brother has ever complained about their decision on traffic. They also never blamed parking problems. While the space seems empty often, they have an amazing take out business. The reason given, Ramesh wants to spend time with the grandkids. Both brothers are happy with the decision.
