Yes, Lakewood Fire Department. Everyone thinks of them with fires and some fire like emergencies, but on days like today, they perform various tasks in an effort to keep our streets, clear and safe. And in this case the railroad track.

Nate Bocchicchio, of AB Plumbing on Madison was home at the time and called, the Police and the Railroad, as the tree was blocking the tracks.


Mr. Bocchicchio had gone out and started doing what he could to clear the tracks. "I cannot believe how fast Lakewood Fire Department was here. They jumped right in saying they would take care of it." said Nate.


The Lakewood Fire Department made short work of the clean up.







As soon as they finished they were off to Belle for another tree down.

That was as much wind as I've seen since Sandy went through. Glad it's over. I just got back from my lake house, I wanted to make sure everything was OK out there. It was. But I saw some wind damage too, which I photographed and saved in my Dropbox. Link is below....

Sounds like Brian is okay, which is not to say he is all right. That's another matter.

Seeing what the wind left behind, and the photos, I am reminded of all the people who complain about the big, old trees getting cut down. Our forestry department knows what it is doing. The evidence is the damage that didn't happen.

Brian so I grabbed my M12 sabre saw, a few wet wipes and some ratchet straps to tie you down in the back of the truck (no way you're riding in the front) and head back out there first thing this morning and this is what I find....

You could have at least let us know you got out safely. Hopefully you got a shower. Glad it wasn't me in that thing. Let this be a lesson to all Observers. Never use a porta potty on a windy day.
