...for action from at least some council members regarding Mark Kindt's research. How could they ignore it? Who has the political courage (and who doesn't)?

A couple of years ago, I criticized people who cried "corruption" about this. I now think that corruption may be an inadequate term for what went on. It serms too well organized.

I have asked this question to members of council. What the hell is the point of public office, especially as a democrat, if you don’t stand up for the little guy? Where is the political courage?

1. Some are DINO, for whom privatization and profitization of public assets are rapturous events. Follow the money.
2. Some are Dems, unsure of how to build their political career without running afoul of the money/power brokers in NE Ohio.
3. Some are wickedly naive, stubbornly unaffected by facts, or gullible.

A storm of hospital destruction and civic decline.

The biggest obstacles to economic growth and innovation in Cuyahoga County (and Lakewood) are

cronyism and corruption

followed by lack of imagination

topped off with a heavy douse of political cowardice.

and a dash of good old fashioned incompetence.

Tristan Radar has made the cold political decision that it's a lot easier to join the club than challenge the corruption. If all he cares about is his political future then he made the right choice.

A good example of the mindset can be found in the statement made by Mary Louise Madigan about reports of corruption and incompetence at the County level. The guy who reported the incompetence was disciplined. Ms. Madigan stated that he could not be trusted. Now, you or I might think that "cannot be trusted" implies that the guy was somehow dishonest. In the world of Ms. Madigan cannot be trusted means cannot be trusted to keep his mouth shut.

Cuyahoga County will continue its downward spiral until some local politician decides that it is to his political advantage to open his mouth.
