Suspects arrested in Cleveland....

Thank to a tip that came into the police. The Cleveland Police stopped some youths on bikes near Somers Restaruant, on W150, across from the I-71 Southbound on ramp.

Lakewood Police soon arrived with a witness to the robberies on 09.28.2018 in the back of their patrol car.

Suspects were moved over into the light where the witness could see them to ID them.

With a positive identification made, witness was taken back to Lakewood and Perps were taken to Lakewood to be booked.

Also some of the items stolen in the first robbery on Edgewater were recovered in Lakewood Park. The second robbery on Ethel Ave about 15 minutes later might have been recovered at the arrests. The police took the bikes and bags of items into custody.

Great work Lakewood and Cleveland Police, and a big tip of the hat to all that called in tips, including the one that led to the arrests.

From Lakewood Police Department...

On Friday, September 28th at approximately 9:34 p.m. the Lakewood Police received a call from a resident indicating that he was just robbed at gunpoint by 3 males on bicycles in the 13000 block of Edgewater Drive. At 10:18 p.m., as officers were still investigating this incident, a second call was received from a female resident who indicated she had just been robbed at gunpoint by 3 males on bicycles on Ethel Avenue near the railroad tracks.

The suspect descriptions given by both victims indicated that all 3 suspects were black males and appeared to be in their teens or early 20’s. All three were riding bicycles and the suspects had their faces covered with some sort of masks/partial facial coverings.

As officers continued to search the city in an attempt to locate the suspects their descriptions and details of the crimes were relayed to surrounding law enforcement agencies. At 11:20 p.m. a call was received from the Cleveland Police Department indicating several of their officers were detaining 3 males who fit the description of the suspects from our robberies that were spotted in the area of I71 and W.150th Street in their city.

The males were positively identified by the victims from the two robberies in Lakewood and they were arrested, transported and booked into the Lakewood Jail. All three males are residents of Cleveland, Ohio. Two of the suspects are juveniles and the third is an adult. He has been identified as David D. Abernathy, DOB 12-20-1999.

Were they ever described? Some might call it racist, but it is necessary.

Dan

They were described, though some are now using images to underline descriptions, when they have been caught. I don;t get it.

Also there are more updates.
